Out & About

Time Well Spent

There are so many ways to spend time in the Cape Fear region. Some of my favorites are a relaxing morning with my family at one of the beautiful beaches. Taking an evening stroll on the Riverwalk in Downtown Wilmington. Exploring the many gardens and museums with visitors. Taking in a show at Thalian Hall. A ferry ride to Southport.

I am grateful to be a part of this wonderful community and do my best to give back. My wife, Heidi, and I have organized numerous events – from “Christmas in the Forest” to “Italian Fest.” The goals of our endeavors are always to bring people together and to lend a hand to those in need.

Here are a few highlights from some of my activities:

Habitat for Humanity

Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage sponsored a new home build along with Habitat for Humanity in New Hanover County. I’ve been volunteering my time to help build this home, which is where we also volunteered on Realtor Action Day this year.

The home we worked on was for an ambitious young woman who put in over 266 hours of her own time, building 15 different Habitat for Humanity houses, including her own. To see how you can help the Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity, visit capefearhabitat.org.

The Carousel Center

In both 2016 & 2017, I had the honor of being Master of Ceremonies alongside my wife at the Port City Design Group’s Tribute to The Carousel Center. This benefit dinner and show supports the Carousel Center, a safe space for children in our surrounding counties who have suffered physical or sexual abuse.

We now support their annual 5K held each fall. The ‘Merry Go Run’ is a family fun way to be involved with the Center – and to help them raise much needed funds! If you’re interested in learning more about the amazing work done by the Carousel Center, visit their website at carouselcenter.org.

Tropical Storm Business Networking International (BNI)

This local BNI group is focused on helping its members grow their business through a structured, positive and professional referral program. This enables us an avenue to develop meaningful, long-term relationships. The weekly meetings provide educational opportunities and a greater understanding of resources available in our local community. If you’re interested in learning more about the BNI group, just let me know!

North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce (BCC)

As a past Board member and general member, I have been active with the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce for several years. I support their vision and goals and feel an important aspect of being a part of a community is giving back to the community when you are blessed with the means to do so.

Vision of the BCC:

“To work together as a community of businesses and residents whose goal is to serve as stewards of positive future growth while maintaining the great traditions and personality unique to north Brunswick County.”

Its activities range from ribbon cuttings to celebrate new endeavors to annual programs to honor those who have served in our military. My involvement with the Chamber allows me the perfect way to meet and get to know others from this area. If you’re interested in learning more, give me a call!

I encourage you to explore the many ways you can get involved. This really is a great community to live, to work, and to play.
